PRIVACY POLICY & PATIENT INFORMATION
1. About Kimberley Medical Aesthetics
Kimberley Medical Aesthetics is a medical aesthetics clinic based in Rhuddlan, North Wales. We are committed to
providing professional, patient-centred care and to treating patients with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
We want every patient to understand what to expect from their care, how their information is handled, how to raise
concerns and where to find important treatment information.
Our approach is based on individual assessment. Treatment recommendations are made according to your
circumstances, suitability, clinical needs, expectations and safety.
A booking does not automatically mean that treatment will be appropriate or proceed. We may decline or
postpone treatment where this is clinically necessary or where treatment is not appropriate for the individual patient.
2. What can you expect from your care
When you use our services, we aim to provide clear information and a professional, supportive experience.
Clear information about the treatment being considered and what it involves.
An appropriate consultation or assessment where required.
Discussion of suitability, expectations, potential risks and relevant aftercare.
Appropriate consent documentation before treatment.
Confidential handling of your personal and clinical information.
Service-related communication such as appointment confirmations, reminders and important treatment information.
An opportunity to provide feedback or make a complaint if you are unhappy with any aspect of your experience.
You should provide accurate and complete information relevant to your health and treatment suitability, including
changes to medication, health or circumstances that may affect treatment.
3. Consultation, assessment & consent
Some treatments require a consultation, medical assessment or prescription before treatment can be provided.
Your suitability will be assessed on an individual basis.
Before treatment, you will receive appropriate clinical information and consent documentation relevant to the treatment being considered. Reading information on this website does not constitute informed consent.
Treatment recommendations are individual. Aesthetic treatment outcomes vary between patients and cannot be
guaranteed.
4. Patient safety & clinical information
Your safety is our priority. Please tell us about relevant medical history, allergies, medication, previous treatments and any other information that may affect treatment suitability.
If you have an urgent concern following treatment, please use the treatment-specific aftercare information provided to you and contact the clinic as appropriate. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, seek appropriate urgent medical assistance rather than waiting for a response from the clinic.
We may refuse or postpone treatment where there is a clinical contraindication, insufficient information to assess suitability, concern about patient safety, failure to follow pre-treatment requirements, inappropriate expectations, or another reasonable clinical or safety concern.
5. Laser hair removal patient information
Kimberley Medical Aesthetics provides laser hair removal using the SMART Diode Triple Wavelength Laser. The system combines three laser wavelengths to target hair follicles at different depths and is designed to provide effective treatment while helping to maximise patient comfort.
Before treatment, every patient receives a comprehensive consultation and patch test. This allows us to assess suitability, discuss medical history and realistic expectations, answer questions and determine appropriate treatment settings.
Before your treatment
Attend with clean skin free from creams, oils, deodorant, perfume, makeup and fake tan. Shave the treatment area 12–24 hours before your appointment; avoid shaving immediately beforehand.
Do not wax, pluck, thread or use depilatory creams for at least four weeks before treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbeds for at least two weeks before treatment. Do not use self-tanning products for two weeks before your appointment. Tell your practitioner if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have started a new medication, have recently taken
antibiotics, have recently undergone aesthetic treatment, or have developed a skin infection, cold sore or rash. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every day throughout your treatment course.
During treatment
Protective eyewear must be worn by everyone in the treatment room.
The laser incorporates an advanced cooling system to improve comfort.
Most patients describe the sensation as a warm flick or the snap of a small elastic band. Mild redness and slight swelling around the follicles immediately after treatment are normal expected responses. After your treatment Mild redness and swelling around treated follicles may occur for up to 48 hours. Use a cool compress if required. For 24–48 hours avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, vigorous exercise, swimming and massage over the treated area. Avoid deodorants, perfumes or fragranced skincare products on treated areas for 24 hours. Shaving may continue if required, but do not wax, pluck or thread between sessions. Avoid direct sun exposure and apply SPF 50 daily. Avoid exfoliating products containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid, retinol or prescription vitamin A products for 5–7
days following treatment.
Expected results
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, but results vary between individuals. Hair grows in different stages and only hairs in the active growth phase respond effectively. Most patients require a course of 6–8 treatments for optimal results, although additional sessions may be needed depending on the area and individual response.
Hormonal conditions and hormonal changes may influence treatment outcomes. Periodic maintenance treatments may be recommended.
Possible side effects
Common: redness, swelling around hair follicles, warmth and mild itching, usually settling within a few hours to 48 hours. Less common: blistering, burns, temporary changes in skin pigmentation and bruising. Rare: infection and scarring. Contact the clinic promptly if you experience severe or increasing pain, extensive blistering, signs of infection such as increasing redness, swelling, pus or fever, symptoms that worsen rather than improve after 48 hours, or any concern about your healing or recovery.
Laser hair removal FAQs
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It provides long-term hair reduction. Some regrowth may occur over time
because of hormonal influences or natural biological changes, and maintenance treatments may be required.
Can all skin types be treated?
The SMART Diode Triple Wavelength Laser is suitable for a wide range of skin types when appropriate settings are selected by the practitioner.
Why do I need a patch test?
A patch test helps assess your skin's response, confirm appropriate settings and support safe treatment.
Can I shave between treatments?
Yes. Shaving is encouraged if required. Waxing, plucking and threading
should be avoided because the follicle needs to remain present.
Can I exercise after treatment?
Avoid vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours to reduce irritation and overheating of treated skin.
Why must I avoid the sun?
Sun exposure before or after treatment increases the risk of skin irritation, burns and pigmentation changes. Daily SPF protection is essential throughout the treatment course.
